“Sergiy Sternenko did not report a number of important details that significantly change the understanding of the situation.” In particular, the Odesa regional territorial recruitment center responded to the yesterday’s statement by blogger and volunteer Serhiy Sternenko about his search with such words, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

The day before, Sternenko, citing information from Russian media, claimed that he was wanted because he failed to appear at the recruiting center when summoned, and suggested that this was due to his criticism of the army system and calls for reforming the army.

The Odesa TCC said that Sternenko, in particular, had already visited the Primorsky RTC and JV, where he

– paid an administrative fine for violating the rules of military registration;

– was sent to the military medical commission (MMC).

“These facts indicate that Mr. Sternenko was aware of the need to fulfill his duties as a person liable for military service and took appropriate measures to regulate his status,” the TCC noted.

The Odesa TCC called Sergiy Sternenko’s allegations that his search is allegedly “revenge” for his criticism of the military structures unfounded and aimed at arousing public sympathy and forming a negative impression of the work of the TCC and the JV.

The Odesa MCC and JV also suggested that Mr. Sternenko and other citizens who have doubts about the legitimacy of the actions of the MCC and JV should contact the territorial recruitment and social support centers directly to clarify all the circumstances and eliminate possible misunderstandings.

However, the TCC neither confirmed nor denied that the blogger was wanted, but still maintained some uncertainty about the situation.
