On Thursday, 8 August, from 17:00 to 22:00, electricity consumption will be limited in Ukraine. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the the message of “Ukrenergo on its Telegram channel.
The National Energy Company clarified that the power supply restrictions would apply only to industry and business. Therefore, one stage of the schedule will be used.
“Consumption by the population, critical infrastructure and defence industry facilities will not be limited,” Ukrenergo said.
Ukrainians were also asked to use electricity sparingly from 16:00 to 23:00.
Why blackout schedules were introduced on 8 August
The reasons for the restrictions were
- a power shortage in the system caused by Russian attacks;
- high level of electricity consumption due to the increase in air temperature to 30C in the south and east of the country.
