Usyk suspended from boxing for a month after defeating Fury
24 December 09:53Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury have been suspended from boxing after the rematch of the world heavyweight champion. This is reported by Bloody Elbow, Komersant ukrainskyi informs.
After the fight, the World Boxing Council (WBC) banned Usyk and Fury from the ring for 36 days.
The WBC requires that both boxers rest for three days for each round fought during the fight, meaning they will have to take a 36-day break from work. This is to prevent possible health risks.
On the night of December 22, the Ukrainian defeated the Briton by unanimous decision in the Saudi capital Riyadh. Following the 12 rounds, all three referees declared Usyk’s success: 116-112, 116-112, 116-112.
In the first meeting , Usyk won. Both boxers agreed to a rematch. According to Boxing Kingdom, Usyk will have the opportunity to earn much more money than in the first fight. For the rematch, Usyk will receive 60% of the total fee, and Fury will receive 40%. In the first fight, Tyson Fury received 2/3 of the total fee, and the Ukrainian boxer received the rest.
