For the International Day for Women’s Rights, the platform of Ukrainian brands “Vsi. Svoi” together with the public organisation “ Zemlyachki” presented a photo project “Hear the Military”. The initiative is unfolding in the windows and inside the shop on Khreshchatyk, where every visitor has the opportunity to plunge into the world of military women. About it informs Kommermant Ukrainian with reference to the release of the PA.
Why it is important
In the face of enemy invasion, more than 60,000 women have become part of the Ukrainian Defence Forces , of which around 10,000 are in frontline positions. “Hear the Military” is the voice of women who have chosen to defend the country, putting civilian life on pause for the safety of each and every one of us. They need not only recognition, but real support – comfortable uniforms and specialised gear tailored to their body anatomy.
What does the project offer?
The project includes not only photo installations, but also audio accompaniment with the women’s stories, and an interactive “Hear” cube that allows visitors to delve deeper into the realities of life in the military. The initiative provides an opportunity for everyone to join the charity: from 3% to 50% per cent of sales of products of Ukrainian brands, presented in the shops “Vsi. Svoi” shops on Khreschatyk, 27 and in Lavina Mall will be donated to the needs of “Zemlyachki“. Also, direct donations can be made directly in the shops.
Anna Lukovkina, the founder of “Vsi. Svoi”, notes:
“This project is our way of saying ‘thank you’ and showing that we see and appreciate every woman who stands in defence of our country. We want their stories to be heard and supported not only with words, but also with concrete actions.”
Ksenia Draganiuk, co-founder of Zemlyachki NGO , emphasises:
“Every woman in the Ukrainian army is a symbol not only of courage and strength, but also of inexhaustible faith in our country. Through the project “Hear the military”, we aim not only to tell their stories, but also to show that behind every uniform there is a living person with her hopes and dreams. We want the public to not only listen and watch, but to hear and see the contributions of our female defenders and support them not only with words, but also with actions.”
The Hear the Military project is an important step towards recognising and supporting women in the military, and making the public aware of their needs and the challenges they face on a daily basis.
