Government fired alleged Russian World fan Olena Kramarenko from the post of First Deputy Minister of Environment

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has dismissed Olena Kramarenko from the post of First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine. The relevant order of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal was signed on January 24, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
The official was dismissed at her own request. Kramarenko announced her resignation the day before.
“Today I decided to resign… I thank everyone for their worthy work. These have been difficult years of hard work in a relentless mode. There is still a lot of experience and a desire for change for our country, so the next stage will follow. My goal is to achieve results, not processes for the sake of processes, and I sincerely believe that I will work with like-minded people for whom the preservation and restoration of our environment will be a key value!”
– she wrote on Facebook, hinting that the current procedures in the ministry do not meet her standards.
“I remain true to my own principles: law and justice are unshakable truths,”
– the official added.
At the same time, Kramarenko did not clearly state why she decided to resign.

Olena Kramarenko: dossier
The website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine does not provide much information about the former Deputy Minister. She took up her position quite recently – on October 4, 2024. Prior to her promotion, she served as Deputy Minister, where she was appointed in May 2022.
In her previous position, her main responsibilities were
- development and implementation of the state policy on environmental impact assessment;
- management of strategic environmental assessment processes;
- implementation of state environmental control;
- reforming the chemical safety system in Ukraine.
According to the official’s declaration for 2022, Kramarenko uses a residential building owned by citizen Valentyna Kozlova and rents an apartment owned by Halyna Kuzmych. Olena Kramarenko also uses a 2008 HYUNDAI TUCSON, which belongs to the same citizen, Valentyna Kozlova.
In 2022, her salary at the Ministry amounted to UAH 580,501. She had UAH 31,117 in her bank account at PrivatBank and declared cash in the amount of UAH 1,036,096.
According to the declaration, Olena Kramarenko is not married, but lives together with Serhii Osipenko, who owns a 62.5-square-meter house and has cash savings: uSD 30,000, EUR 15,000, and UAH 400,000. Osipenko receives a pension from the Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in Odesa region.
There is no information in the declaration about corporate rights, securities or other businesses. There are also no financial liabilities or loans listed.
After Kramarenko’s appointment as First Deputy Minister, informator.ua accused her of sympathizing with the “Russian world”. In particular, the publication claimed that the official was subscribed to such Russian pages as “Friends of Russia”, “Best TV Shows and Series”, “Yok Makaryok” or “Leonid Agutin |FAN Page|”. Interestingly, there was nothing “for the soul” among the subscriptions of Ukrainian pages, but only official pages of state institutions or officials.
