Government to increase payments to families of killed civilians: how much is it?

22 November 18:30

The Cabinet of Ministers wants to increase payments to the families of civilians killed in the defense of Ukraine to UAH 15 million. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on November 22, [Komersant] reports.

“Today we have approved two bills aimed at supporting veterans and honoring the feat of our defenders,” Shmyhal said.

According to him, the first one concerns a fair approach to determining payments to the families of fallen defenders. At the beginning of the full-scale war, many Ukrainians took up arms and defended the state as civilians. The families of such fallen civilians are entitled to a payment of UAH 1.9 million.

“We propose to increase it to UAH 15 million, and we believe that this is right and fair. This will help support the families of those who died defending our country and future,” the Prime Minister said.

He added that the Government has already submitted a relevant draft law to the Verkhovna Rada.
