The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has set limits on compensation for housing destroyed by the Russians. This is stated in CMU Resolution No. 39 of 16 January, which amends previous resolutions regulating this area.

Previously, the government had developed a special formula for compensation, according to which the amount of compensation was determined by the average cost of housing in a particular region multiplied by the number of square metres in the destroyed or damaged housing.

Under the new rules, the maximum area for which compensation will be paid is 150 square metres for apartments and 200 square metres for houses. Anything larger than this will not be compensated.

The owners of the housing destroyed by the Russians, the area of which exceeds these norms, have been left with the hope of full compensation.

“In the future, the area for which compensation was not accrued will be used in case of applying for compensation through reparations or other sources, if such compensation is provided for by regulations,”

– the document says.
