Government plans to increase payments to families of fallen “civilian” defenders
22 November 15:47The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a draft law aimed at establishing justice in payments to the families of defenders. This was announced in Telegram by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, reports Komersant ukrainskyi.
At the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, many Ukrainians stood up to defend the country and died in arms as civilians. Their families are still entitled to a payment of UAH 1.9 million, while the families of fallen soldiers are entitled to UAH 15 million.
The government is finally proposing to establish justice, equalize these payments and pay the families of fallen “civilian” defenders UAH 15 million as well.

“We believe this is right and fair. This will help support the families of those who died defending our country and future,”
– the government said in a statement.
The government-approved bill will now be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration.
As reported by , the Cabinet of Ministers recently changed the procedure for payments to the families of killed and missing soldiers. Now, families of servicemen who have been declared missing or killed will be able to receive payments within three years after the court decision.
