Umerov and the Pentagon chief discussed the following weapons packages

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin had a phone conversation with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. They discussed military assistance and international support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression. This is stated in a statement byPentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder, Komersant ukrainskyi reports

It is noted that during the conversation, the heads of the departments discussed the latest developments on the battlefield and assistance to Ukraine in the field of security. Austin informed Umerov about plans for US military assistance to Ukraine to combat Russian aggression.

The ministers also discussed planning for the next meeting of the Contact Group in the Ramstein format and “further strong support for Ukraine from international partners,” the statement said.

Both defense ministers promised to remain in close contact.

As reported, the day before, the Pentagon announced a nearly billion-dollar aid package for Ukraine.

Earlier, CNN reported that the United States intends to provide Kyiv with anti-personnel mines for use in eastern Ukraine, where Russian troops have been advancing slowly and steadily.

According to Austin, the Ukrainian army needs “things that can help slow down those efforts.”

The US Secretary of Defense also emphasized that Ukraine should be responsible and “record where they are putting these mines.”

According to CNN, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin also told reporters about the White House’s intention to announce a support package for Ukraine worth up to $275 million.
