Ukrenergo urges to save electricity

The national energy company Ukrenergo has called on the population to limit electricity consumption during peak hours, Komersant ukrainskyi citing the company’s press service.
As a result of today’s massive Russian attack on Ukrainian energy facilities, Ukrenergo substations and generation facilities in Odesa, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv and Kyiv regions were damaged. This will affect the capacity of the power system at peak times, the company said.
“Since 06:31, emergency outage schedules have been introduced in Kharkiv region. In other regions, consumption restrictions for household consumers were not applied. However, during the hours of daily maximum consumption from 19:00 to 21:00, the Ukrenergo Dispatch Centre calls for limiting the use of powerful energy-intensive appliances,”

Consumption limits are in place for industrial consumers in Kryvyi Rih, Ukrenergo said.
Yesterday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Ukraine’s power system experienced an excess of electricity, which was purchased by the Polish operator PSE in an emergency, totalling 2,800 MWh. In the evening, on the contrary, there was a deficit, and Ukraine was forced to buy 200 MWh from the same operator from 20:00 to 21:00.
As of the morning of 11 April, 380 settlements in Vinnytsia, Donetsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Sumy and Kharkiv regions were without electricity.
