Ukrenergo should finally get a full-fledged manager

The Supervisory Board of NPC Ukrenergo has announced a competition for the position of the company’s Chairman of the Board. This is reported on the website of Ukrenergo, according to [Kommersant].

The competition will be supported by Korn Ferry, one of the best global consulting companies in the search for top managers and leadership development.

Applications are accepted until March 14, 2025.

What will the new manager have to work on?

The announcement of the competition for the new Chairman of the Board outlines the following goals and priorities during the war:

– Ensuring the protection of critical elements of the power system and the rapid restoration of war-damaged energy facilities.

– Supporting the development of distributed generation to increase the flexibility and resilience of the power system.

– Creating a reserve of critical equipment and ensuring its safe storage for quick recovery.

– Restoring financial stability and trust of international financial partners, etc.

At the same time, by leading a team of professionals, the Chairman of the Board must create the preconditions for the post-war development of the company.

How would the Supervisory Board like to see the CEO of Ukrenergo?

As stated in the announcement of the competition, the candidate for the position of the Chairman of the Board must have mission-critical competencies that will affect the strategic sustainability of NPC Ukrenergo.

In this regard, strategic thinking, leadership skills, change management, operational excellence, transparency and integrity, and, of course, deep knowledge of the energy sector and strong professional experience are mentioned. In particular, the candidate should have more than 7 years of transformational leadership experience at senior management level.

In addition, the candidate must be free from any direct or indirect business interests, professional relationships or personal connections that may jeopardize his or her ability to make unbiased decisions as the Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo.

As it is known, the previous Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytskyi was dismissed by the majority of the Supervisory Board on September 2.

on September 3, independent members of the Supervisory Board of NPC Ukrenergo Daniel Dobbeny and Peder Andreansen resigned, as they considered the early dismissal of the company’s CEO Volodymyr Kudrytskyi to be politically motivated.

on October 11, it was announced that a competitive selection would be held for the positions of three independent members of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo. The process of forming a new supervisory board was completed on December 11 last year. [Kommersant]reported about it.

Since it took at least 3 months to launch the competition for the selection of a new chairman of the company and conduct all the necessary competitive procedures, Oleksiy Brekht, who was responsible for the operation and development of the grid at Ukrenergo, was appointed acting chairman of the NPC.
