The demand for mortgages among Ukrainians fell by more than 40 percent in a month. This was reported by [Kommersant] reports citing information fromthe National Bank of Ukraine.
According to it, Ukrainian banks issued 607 mortgages totalling UAH 1 billion in June. This means that the volume of mortgage loans granted to the population in June 2024 decreased by 41.5% compared to the previous month (May 2024), while it is 34.3% higher than in June last year.
In June, 11 banks that provided housing loans reported issuing new mortgages. As before, the majority of transactions were made in the secondary property market.
The mortgage segment remains driven by preferential lending under the eHouse programme (almost all loans in June were granted under this programme).
In terms of regions, the largest number of mortgage loans in June was issued in
- kyiv city and Kyiv region (274 agreements for a total amount of UAH 517.8 million, which is 51% of the total amount),
- Lviv region (29 agreements for UAH 63 million),
- Dnipropetrovska oblast (32 contracts for UAH 42 million);
- Vinnytsia region (26 contracts for UAH 41 million).
