In Ukraine, basic general military training will be introduced in higher education institutions in 2025. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Education Mykhailo Vynnytskyi in a commentary to Novyny.LIVE, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
According to the official, who was quoted by the Judicial and Legal Newspaper, it is not about freshmen – military training will be introduced for 3rd year students and instructors and training grounds are already being prepared.
Mykhailo Vynnytskyi emphasized that military training at universities is not related to mobilization.
“A person graduating from higher education should know how to handle weapons,” said the Deputy Minister of Education.
As you know, on June 21, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Procedure for conducting basic general military training for Ukrainian citizens who are pursuing higher education and police officers.
It was determined that the basic training is for male citizens of Ukraine (female citizens are voluntary) who are enrolled in full-time or dual form of education.
The organization and support of basic general military training of higher education students and police officers is entrusted to the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, other state and local self-government bodies (by agreement), which manage higher education institutions and educational institutions with specific conditions of education that provide police training, and the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
