Two Chinese citizens who fought as part of the Russian army in the Donetsk region were captured by Ukraine.

This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

According to him, they were captured during a battle between Ukrainian soldiers near Tarasivka and Bilohorivka with six Chinese.

Two prisoners are already in the custody of the Security Service of Ukraine. Investigative and operational actions are underway. Ukraine also has their documents, bank cards and personal data.

“We have information that there are many more Chinese citizens in the occupier’s units than just two. We are now finding out all the facts. Intelligence, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the relevant units of the Armed Forces are working,” Zelenskyy said.

The President instructed Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga to immediately contact Beijing and find out how China is going to respond.

According to the Ukrainian head of state, Russia’s involvement in this war, directly or indirectly, is “a clear signal that Putin is going to do anything but end the war.”

“He is looking for ways to continue fighting. This definitely requires a reaction. The reaction of the United States, Europe and everyone in the world who wants peace,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

As a reminder, this is not the first time foreigners have been captured by the Ukrainian military. On January 11, it was reported that Ukrainian soldiers captured the first two North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region of Russia. They were injured but survived and were taken to Kyiv.

At the same time, the president pointed out the difference between the North Koreans who fought on the territory of Russia and the Chinese who are taking part in the fighting right in Ukraine. He believes that this is an “important point” that should be discussed with partners.
