Ukrainian exporters gained access to 16 new foreign markets in 2024

Ukrainian honey can now be exported to China and egg products to Canada. In total, 16 new foreign markets opened for Ukrainian exporters in 2024. This is reported on the Government portal, Komersant ukrainskyi informs.

According to the report, this is the result of joint work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

“Helping our companies enter new foreign markets is a strategic priority. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection are the key that opens the doors for trade,” said Andriy Sybiga, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

According to Serhiy Tkachuk, Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, the agencies are currently working with more than 60 countries to enable Ukrainian producers to export their products of plant and animal origin.

For which Ukrainian goods have foreign markets opened

In 2024, Ukrainian producers gained access to foreign markets for 16 product groups in 9 countries:

– poultry/feather/fish meal – to the State of Israel;

– oils and fats for animal feeding – to the State of Israel;

– honey – to the People’s Republic of China;

– marine and river aquatic animals (fish, mollusks, crustaceans, needlefish, including those grown in farms) and products from them – to the State of Kuwait;

– poultry meat and poultry products – to the Kingdom of Bahrain;

– mechanically deboned poultry meat – to Bosnia and Herzegovina;

– egg products – to Canada;

– canned pet food – to the Republic of Albania;

– chewing items for pets – to the Republic of Albania;

– ungulates registered for breeding and use purposes – to the Republic of Moldova;

– semi-finished products of poultry meat – to the Republic of Moldova;

– composite products – to the Republic of Moldova;

– meat products intended for human consumption – to the Republic of Moldova;

– veterinary certificate of health for reptiles – to the State of Israel;

– meat products intended for human consumption – to the Republic of Albania;

– meat products – to the Republic of North Macedonia.

According to the Governmental Council, the forms of certificates are published on the official web portal of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection in the section “International Cooperation” – “Veterinary and Safety” – “Certificates for Export from Ukraine”.

As of today, Ukraine has the right to export agricultural products to 360 trade destinations.

What, where and in what volumes did Ukrainian producers export

In 2024, Ukraine exported goods worth $41.6 billion and imported $70.7 billion. In general, trade turnover increased by 13% compared to 2023, when it amounted to $99.4 billion. This was reported recently by the State Customs Service.

Exports grew by 16% last year, reaching $41.6 billion compared to $36 billion in 2023.

Ukraine exported the most to Poland – $4.7 billion, Spain – $2.9 billion, and Germany – $2.8 billion.

The top three most exported goods from Ukraine include

– food products – $24.6 billion

– metals and metal products – $4.4 billion

– machinery, equipment and transport – $3.5 billion

In 2024, UAH 311.3 million was paid to the budget during customs clearance of exports of goods subject to export duties.
