Ukrainian tennis player Liudmyla Kichenok and Latvian player Jelena Ostapenko have reached the final of the US Open tennis championships, reports Komersant ukrainskyi
In the semi-finals, they confidently defeated a pair consisting of Taiwanese athlete Zhan Haoqing and “neutral” Russian Veronika Kudermetova with a score of 6: 1, 6: 2.
In the finals, the Ukrainian-Latvian pair will play against the duo Christina Mladenovic (France)/Zhang Shuai (China). The match will take place on 5 September at 19:00 Kyiv time.

This is not the first success for the Kichenok/Ostapenko pair at tournaments of this level. Earlier this year, they already played in the final of the Australian Open, although they failed to win. Now they have another chance to win the Grand Slam title at the US Open.
The US Open, which takes place in New York, USA, is one of the four most important tournaments in the Grand Slam series. The matches are played on hard courts, and the total prize pool is $75 million. Ukrainian singles tennis players stopped competing for the trophy in the early stages. Marta Kostiuk and Elina Svitolina competed for the longest time, reaching the third round.
