Ukrainian chess player wins world championship among amateurs

Anastasia Osadchuk, a 28-year-old candidate for master of sports from Korostyshiv, won the World Chess Championship among amateur chess players with a rating of up to 1700. This was reported by the Ukrainian Chess Federation on Facebook, Komersant ukrainskyi reports

The World Amateur Chess Championship was held in Rhodes, Greece.

Anastasia Osadchuk managed to score 8 points and confidently won the gold medal. Her closest rival, Mongolian representative Bairat-Uual Anu, was one point behind.

“Our compatriot scored 8 points and confidently won the gold medal (her closest competitor was 1 point behind). Congratulations to the champion and her coach Pavlo Dobrinetsky,” the Federation said.

In addition, in the open tournament among chess players rated up to 1700, Ukrainian Dmytro Nikolayenko took 7th place.
