Ukrainian online bookstore opens its doors to European readers

Ukraine’s largest online bookstore Megogo Books is entering the markets of 15 new countries. This was reported by the company’s press service, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

Nova Poshta was and is the logistics partner of the project.

“We are already successfully cooperating with Nova Poshta in the domestic market, so the logical step was to expand this cooperation to the international level to meet the demand of readers in Europe. We are starting with the countries where most Ukrainians live, but this is only the beginning of our international plans – we may expand our geography in the future,” Kateryna Kotvitska, Chief Content Officer of Megogo Books, told Dev.ua.

Where exactly will the books be delivered?

Delivery will be carried out to 95 cities and 144 Nova Poshta offices.

These are the following countries: Great Britain, Estonia, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, France, and the Czech Republic.

What books will be available to European readers

The entire Megogo Books assortment, which includes more than 200 publishers and over 16,000 titles, is available for customers abroad.

The online bookstore offers bestsellers, long sellers, and new fiction, nonfiction, and children’s books from the most popular Ukrainian publishers.

The service team has also prepared a catalog of paper books, having concluded 130 contracts.

How to order a book in an online bookstore

In order to order a book, MEGOGO subscribers need to log in to mbooks.com.ua using their phone number or e-mail from their MEGOGO account. This will allow for verification and an additional discount.

New customers need to go to mbooks.com.ua and buy books as in any online store.

What else is known about Megogo Books online bookstore

This is a startup within the MEGOGO ecosystem. The online bookstore was launched in December last year.

“We started actively investing in this area in March 2024, exclusively at the expense of the working capital of the main MEGOGO product, without attracting third-party financing,” Valeria Tolochina, Global CMO of MEGOGO, told Dev.ua.

The company estimates the cost of the project as average for this type and scale. The company plans to recoup the investment within two years.

What we know about MEGOGO

MEGOGO is an international media service that has been building its own content ecosystem since 2011 and works with leading Ukrainian and foreign film distributors. The platform offers a variety of content, including movies, television, sports, music, audiobooks, and podcasts.

Over the past year, Megogo’s library was replenished with more than 6 thousand units of new content in VOD and LIVE. The company continued to invest heavily in Ukrainian-language voice acting, allocating UAH 38 million for this purpose, as in 2023. The company’s own Megogo Voice studio and in cooperation with partners produced 3,825 hours of Ukrainian dubbing for movies, TV series, children’s and other content.

According to the company, at the end of 2024, users spent an average of one hour a day with Megogo, or 365 hours a year. The most popular viewing device was Smart TV, and the most used emoji on interactive TV was the flag of Ukraine.
