He recalled that from March 2024 to the present, the maximum capacity of electricity exports from Ukraine and Moldova was set at 550 MW. As the minister explained, every spring, exports increase, while imports decrease.

What are the benefits of increased exports?

First, strengthening integration with the European energy system is one of the priorities of the Ukrainian energy sector.

Secondly, increasing the maximum export capacity is positive for Ukraine as an additional opportunity to balance the power system without limiting generation.

Thirdly, it is an opportunity to generate additional income from foreign trade and fill the state budget.

Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko reminded that Ukraine is currently trading electricity with all its neighboring European countries – Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Poland and Moldova.
