Ukraine will soon enter into official negotiations with US and European security regulators to resume air traffic. Oleksandr Kubrakov, Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of Community, Territorial and Infrastructure Development, said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Kommersant Ukrainian reports
“It is impossible to carry out international flights without the approval of two regulators – European and American – this is how it works. The Ukrainian side is already sharing with the regulators its vision of how the market will operate under martial law, its risk assessment, approaches, algorithms… I don’t want to talk about any deadlines, but now we will officially convey our vision to the regulators and we are entering into official negotiations with them,”
– the Minister said.
He noted that there are few examples of air traffic operations under military threat, but they do exist:
“There are not many examples in the world where airports operate where drones or missiles can arrive at any time. Israel is the most successful example. We have spent a lot of time consulting with the Israeli Civil Aviation Authority. By the way, the majority of it is headed by former military people.”
Kubrakov added that many European airlines, including low-cost Ryanair, as well as Ukrainian ones, are willing to fly from Ukraine.
