Ukraine has been ranked 4th in the world among the world’s largest honey exporters. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club.
In the first three months of this year, honey exports totalled more than 23 thousand tonnes, which is equivalent to USD 44 million in monetary terms.
Most Ukrainian honey is bought by such countries as:
- Germany;
- Poland;
- France.
These EU countries account for half of the producers’ foreign exchange earnings from the sale of the product.
Ukrainian honey is also popular in countries other than the European Union. For example, it is bought in the US, Turkey, the UK, Japan, Switzerland, Canada, Qatar and Jordan.
Only China (152.6 thousand tonnes), India (98.7 thousand tonnes) and Argentina (68.9 thousand tonnes) are ahead of Ukraine in terms of honey exports.
