Ukraine in Top 10 at the European Biathlon Championships 2024: results of the classic mixed relay

The Ukrainian national team took ninth place in the classic mixed relay at the continental biathlon championships, reports

On the final day of the 2024 European Biathlon Championships in Brezno-Osrbl, Slovakia, the classic mixed relay took place.

Vitalii Mandzyn, Dmytro Pidruchnyi, Khrystyna Dmytrenko and Anastasiia Merkushyna ran for the Ukrainian team. Our team finished ninth.

At the starting stage, Mandzin used only one extra round of ammunition and passed the baton in fourth place. In the second stage, Pidruchnyi made two mistakes in the prone shooting and failed to cover all the targets in the standing position, which resulted in him taking eighth place.

In the third stage, Dmytrenko shot perfectly in prone and used one extra round in the rack, passing the baton to seventh.

In the last stage, Merkushyna failed in the prone shooting, going for three penalty laps. She used two additional rounds at the standing firing line and eventually led the Ukrainian team to ninth place.

It should be added that the Ukrainian national team has so far won one medal at the 2024 European Championships in biathlon. Khrystyna Dmytrenko won bronze in the sprint.

It should be noted that the European Biathlon Championships are a preparation for the main start of the season – the 2024 World Championships, which will be held in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic, from 7 to 18 February.
