A large exchange of prisoners took place between Ukraine and Russia. 205 of our defenders have been released from Russian captivity.
This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Telegram, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“Ours are free. Ours are at home. Today, Ukraine has returned 205 soldiers. Young boys and adult men from almost all types and branches of the military. Defenders of Mariupol and defenders of the entire front line. They were scattered in many Russian regions, imprisoned by the prison system with a single task: to abuse and destroy humanity,” Zelensky said.

He also thanked everyone who worked on this exchange and the United Arab Emirates in particular for their mediation and assistance.

“I thank those who are not indifferent and continue to talk about Ukrainians in captivity. Every day we fight for our people. We will definitely do everything to return each and every one of them,” the president said.

As a reminder, on April 19, 277 soldiers – defenders of Mariupol and other areas in Donetsk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Luhansk regions – were returned to Ukraine from Russian captivity.

Among the released soldiers are 268 privates and sergeants, as well as nine officers. Most of them are young people born after 2000.
