Ukraine discusses aviation modernization and the possibility of receiving Swedish aircraft with SAAB

Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for Aviation Development Oleksandr Kozenko held talks with representatives of the Swedish defense company SAAB to strengthen the aviation capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, [ komersant] reports.
During the meeting, the parties discussed several key areas of cooperation, including:
- Modernization of Soviet aircraft in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine through the integration of modern avionics, including Swedish-made radar systems, protection and electronic warfare equipment;
- Exchange of experience: The Ukrainian military will be able to enhance its combat capabilities, and the Swedish side will be able to gain unique insights from the practical combat application of its technologies.
“Ukrainian-Swedish cooperation in this area is mutually beneficial,” emphasized Oleksandr Kozenko, “It is not only about strengthening our aviation, but also an opportunity for Swedish partners to learn more about the effectiveness of their solutions in real combat conditions.”
A separate topic of negotiations was the possibility of transferring SAAB aircraft to Ukraine. The discussion covered not only the current status of the arrangements, but also further steps that could be taken in the event of a positive political decision.
