By the evening of Thursday, 5 September, employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine had completed rescue operations at the site of a missile attack on the Poltava Military Institute of Communications. The work lasted for 3 days, Komersant ukrainskyi reports, citing the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
“Emergency rescue operations at the site of a missile attack on an educational institution in Poltava have been completed. 55 people were killed and 328 people were injured. The State Emergency Service involved 36 vehicles and 215 rescuers in the aftermath of the strike,” the SES said.
According to the rescuers, experts are currently identifying the remains of human bodies recovered.
What happened in Poltava on 3 September
According to the investigation, on 3 September 2024, the Russian armed forces launched an air attack on Poltava, preceded by two Iskander-M ballistic missiles. The enemy hit an educational institution and a hospital.
One of the buildings of the Institute of Communications, the hospital and nearby houses were partially destroyed.
