The former head of the Cherkasy regional state administration, Serhiy Serhiychuk, was killed by a Russian missile strike on Kryvyi Rih on 27 August. This was reported by the Cherkasy Regional State Administration, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
The shelling killed 4 people and injured 5 others.
“Serhiy Serhiychuk was tragically killed. He was the head of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration from 28 August to 29 December 2020. He was a defender of Ukraine,” the RSA press service said.
The Antena media outlet writes that the former head of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration was on a business trip to Kryvyi Rih at the time of the Russian attack on the city.
Olena Shapoval, the former deputy head of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration’s communications department, who was previously Serhiychuk’s press secretary, confirmed that he was killed in a nighttime missile attack on a hotel in Kryvyi Rih.
“He really disliked all the formalities of the civil service. He was not ashamed to show it. Today I remember how he sometimes came to work in a leather rocker jacket.) Despite the public attention he received, he liked to go to local coffee shops… Serhiy Ivanovych did not like hypocrites, and he was not ashamed to say so to their faces. He was not ashamed of tears when old people approached him on the streets. When he watched heartbreaking videos from the front… He loved his daughter and his family very much. He loved life. He died as a result of a nighttime missile attack on a hotel in Kryvyi Rih. It is a great pity. Only fond memories. RIP!” Olena Shapoval wrote about Serhiychuk.
