a 39-year-old Uzbek citizen has been sentenced to life in prison for a series of brutal murders in Kharkiv and Kyiv regions. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the National Police.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator killed 11 people between 2018 and 2024, including eight Ukrainians, as well as citizens of Uzbekistan, Lithuania, and Georgia.

The victims were men and women aged 35 to 81. According to the investigation, the perpetrator gained people’s trust, talked to them, sometimes drank alcohol, and then brutally killed them. He strangled some people, stoned others. After that, he would take their belongings. The most valuable loot was a cell phone worth UAH 1600 and UAH 5000 in cash.

One of the victims survived: the attacker hit him on the head with a stone and tried to finish him off in the garages, but was frightened by the residents of the neighboring entrance. The victim lost consciousness but survived and helped the investigation.

The serial killer was detained in early 2024 after an attack on a flower shop worker in Kyiv. The man gained her trust by breaking the glass of a neighboring kiosk and offering to help her. In the evening, during the curfew, he returned, stabbed her 34 times, and took her money and jewelry.

A surveillance camera recorded that after the victim opened the door, he immediately attacked her and stabbed her 34 times, took her gold jewelry and money from the flower shop’s cash register and fled.

Kyiv Police Criminal Investigation operatives tracked the attacker’s route, established his location, and detained him within a day near the crime scene.

During the interrogation, the detainee not only confirmed the fact that he had killed the flower shop worker, but also told the police about other murders he had committed. The victims were men and women of different occupations: a loader, a security guard, unemployed people, construction workers, a janitor, and a pensioner.

The crimes were thoroughly documented: dozens of interrogations, examinations, and investigative experiments. A psychiatric examination found that the man was sane and fully aware of his actions.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the suspect was charged with premeditated murder for profit, a series of murders, robberies, and attempted murder. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
