US President Donald Trump said that on June 14, his birthday, a “grand” parade will be held in Washington, DC. The head of the White House published the relevant post on Truth Social, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“I am proud to announce that we will hold a grand parade in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States Army. It will take place on Saturday, June 14, in Washington, DC. For two and a half centuries, our brave soldiers have fought, bled, and sacrificed for our freedom. Now we will honor them with a magnificent parade worthy of their service and sacrifice,” the statement said.
Earlier, the Associated Press wrote that more than 6,600 military personnel will take part in Trump’s parade. It is also expected to involve at least 150 vehicles, 50 helicopters, nine bands and possibly several thousand civilians.
According to the agency, organizing a parade of this magnitude is likely to cost tens of millions of dollars. The costs will include moving military vehicles, equipment, aircraft and troops from across the country to Washington, as well as the need to feed and house thousands of troops.
The Army’s anniversary coincides with Trump’s 79th birthday on June 14.
During his first term, Trump had already proposed holding a parade after seeing it in France on Bastille Day in 2017. But that plan was ultimately scrapped due to the enormous cost – estimated at $92 million – and logistical challenges. Among them were objections from city officials, who argued that bringing in tanks and other heavy armored vehicles would break up roads.
