Farmers to strike against imports from Ukraine in Warsaw: details

Polish farmers plan to protest against EU policies and imports from Ukraine on January 3. This is reported by the media resource Farmer. pl, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

The strike is planned for the day of the inauguration of Poland’s presidency of the European Union. At the same time, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen is to visit Warsaw

At a press conference of the agricultural organizations organizing the farmers’ protest, the organizers told reporters that all farmers’ organizations in the country will strike “against the harmful policies of the EU and Ursula von der Leyen, who imposes a policy tone that forces (Polish – ed.) farms to close.” In particular, farmers are not satisfied with the inflow of agricultural goods from Ukraine.

It is known that the strike will have an international character, as delegations from Slovakia and Germany will come, among others.

The protest will begin at 14:00 in front of the European Commission Delegation, followed by a march down Sviętokrzyska, Marshalowska, Krulewska, Marshal Pilsudski, Moliere, Senatorska streets to Teatralna Square, where the second part of the protest will take place at 20:00 in front of the National Theater named after Maria Zankovetska.

At this time, the National Theater will host a celebration of the beginning of the Polish presidency of the EU with the participation of high-ranking representatives of the European Commission, headed by President Ursula von der Leyen.

The organizers of the protest are Samoobrona, KZPBC, KRIR, OPZZRiOR, KZRKiOR, ORKA, OOPR, RMF, ZZR Ojczyzna, Rola Wielkopolska, Podkarpacka Oszukana Wieś, Institute of Agrarian Economics and others.
