Trump’s State Department is being reorganized

22 April 20:19

The administration of US President Donald Trump has officially announced the reorganization of the State Department.

The relevant statement by the head of American diplomacy, Marco Rubio, was released on April 22, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The department plans to combine functions related to specific regions, eliminate some offices, and terminate statutory programs that do not “meet key U.S. interests.”

“In its current form, the Department is bloated, bureaucratic, and unable to effectively carry out its core diplomatic mission in the new era of great power competition. Excessive bureaucracy has created a system that serves radical political ideology more than it serves America’s national interests,” Marco Rubio said.

He expects that the restructuring will “strengthen the State Department from the bottom up, from individual bureaus to embassies,” and bring the agency “in line with the demands of the 21st century.”
