Ryan Evans, a member of the Reuters team covering the war in Ukraine, was killed in the shelling of Kramatorsk, Donetsk region. Two other journalists were injured. This was reported by Reuters, according to Komersant ukrainskyi
The publication said that Evans worked as a security adviser for the agency and died after a Russian missile hit the Sapphire Hotel, where he was staying as part of a six-person team.
Reuters added that two journalists were being treated, one of them seriously injured.
The other three members of the Reuters team, who were in the hotel at the time of the missile strike, are safe, the agency said.
“We are urgently seeking more information about the attack, including by working with the authorities in Kramatorsk, and we stand with our colleagues and their families,” Reuters said.
Evans, a former British soldier, had been with Reuters since 2022 and advised its journalists on security around the world, including in Ukraine, Israel and at the Paris Olympics. He was 38.
