In Sumy region, the military command has imposed temporary restrictions on the movement of all categories of citizens in the 20-kilometre zone bordering Russia. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“The military command has imposed restrictions on the movement of all categories of citizens in the twenty-kilometre border zone of Sumy region,” the statement said.
The General Staff explained this decision by the increased intensity of hostilities, intensified activities of sabotage and reconnaissance groups, enemy special operations forces, and in order to save the lives of civilians and soldiers.
It is noted that from now on, people are allowed to enter the specified territory on the basis of passports of Ukrainian citizens with a corresponding mark on the registration of residence in this zone.
“Please be understanding of the introduction of such temporary restrictive measures,” the military said.

As a reminder, on 7 August, the government announced the forced evacuation of five communities in Sumy region – 23 settlements.
The evacuation concerns the following territorial communities in the region:
- Krasnopilska;
- Mykolaivska; Mykolaivska;
- Miropilska; Miropilska;
- Yunakivska;
- Khotynska.
The settlements of these territorial communities border the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, where fighting has been going on for more than a day.
What is happening in the Kursk region
on 6 August, the Russians announced a “breakthrough” of the border from Ukraine in the Kursk region.
Fighting has been going on for seven days in the border areas of the Kursk region. Russia has now introduced a counter-terrorism operation in three regions bordering Ukraine.
The Russian Ministry of Defence confirmed the information about the invasion of the region. However, the General Staff of Ukraine has not yet commented on the situation.
According to media reports, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have advanced 30 km into the region. Journalists also report a constant stream of armoured personnel carriers and tanks moving towards Russia.
