The number of coronavirus cases has increased in Poland, a neighbouring country of Ukraine. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi reports with reference to money.pl.
According to official data from the ministry obtained by the media, 1101 new cases of SARS-Cov-2 infection were registered on 20 August. However, Chief Sanitary Inspector Paweł Grzesiowski warned that the actual number was much higher.
“So far, half of the tests conducted are positive, and in some laboratories it happens that up to 80 per cent are positive,” he said.
The chief sanitary inspector also added that he is currently observing an increase in the level of the virus in wastewater, as well as an increase in the number of patients not only at family doctors’ appointments, but also hospitalised.
In the wake of the information about the rising incidence, theories have circulated on the Internet that the restrictions may soon return. However, the relevant ministry assured media journalists that there is currently no outbreak of coronavirus disease in Poland.
“There has been no outbreak or emergency situation with SARS-Cov-2 that would require us to take measures to protect the lives of citizens,” the Ministry of Health said in a response.
At the same time, the ministry noted that infectious diseases are supervised by the State Sanitary Inspection.
It is worth noting that in Kyiv, despite the fact that coronavirus cases have become more frequent, there are no plans to to resort to a mask regime. So far, no recommendations have been received from the Kyiv City Centre for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, and accordingly, no decisions have been made by the Standing Committee on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations to introduce a mask regime or other anti-epidemic measures in connection with the increase in the incidence of COVID-19.
