The book Love, Freddie, dedicated to the life of the Queen frontman, claims that Freddie Mercury had a daughter that only those closest to him knew about. The woman, now 48 years old, kept this secret for more than three decades – until the publication of the biography.

This was reported by The Guardian, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to the book, the child was born as a result of a short-lived affair between the singer and the wife of a close friend in 1976. After that, Mercury maintained close ties with his daughter until his death in 1991. It is known that he gave her 17 volumes of personal diaries, which she carefully kept and did not show to the public.

The diary entries begin on June 20, 1976, two days after the release of the single You’re My Best Friend. In them, Freddie describes his childhood in Zanzibar, his studies at a British school in India, the 1964 revolution, and the family’s move to London. The last entry in the diary is dated July 31, 1991, a few months before Mercury’s death from AIDS-related bronchopneumonia.

The woman, who appears in the book only as B., works as a doctor in Europe. In a fragment of her letter included in the book, she wrote:

“Freddie Mercury was and still is my father. We had a very close and loving relationship. He adored me and was devoted to me. The circumstances of my birth may seem unusual, but it never stopped him from taking care of me.”

She also explained why she decided to share her story only now:

“After decades of silence, it’s time for Freddie himself to speak up. No one forced me to – it was my personal decision. He left me his diaries as his most important message.”

The author of the biography, rock journalist Leslie-Ann Jones, is convinced of the story’s veracity:

“It can’t be faked. She worked with me for more than three years without asking for anything in return,” the writer said.

The book Love, Freddie may become a new key to understanding the personality of one of the biggest stars in rock music history.
