The Ministry of Defense explained how to start contract service for 18-24-year-olds

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine explained the step-by-step algorithm for recruiting for military service under the Contract 18-24 project and described the features of the contract.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

Where to apply for a contract?
Applications for military service under a one-year contract are submitted to recruiting centers or recruiting units of military units in paper or electronic form. The application can be submitted electronically, in particular, through the recruit’s account in the “Reserve” application or through the platform.

What to indicate in the application:

• personal data (full name, date of birth, etc.)
• chosen military unit;
• selected staff position;
• information about the chosen place of medical examination;
• contact information (mobile phone number and e-mail address).

After submitting the application, the candidate will be contacted by a representative of the recruiting center or recruiting unit of the military unit. They will clarify the candidate’s intentions to enter into a contract during the interview.

The decision to accept a candidate for military service under a contract is made within 3 working days. In case of refusal, the commander sends the candidate a notice stating the reason.

In case of a positive decision, the commander of the military unit provides the candidate with a list of documents required for the preparation of a personal file, organizes a professional psychological selection and sends him/her for a medical examination (VLC).

Are there any peculiarities in passing the VLC?
Candidates for this type of contract are granted an extraordinary right to undergo a medical examination at the military medical commissions operating under the RTCC and the JV, as well as in medical institutions operating under the state guarantee program. In this case, the candidate may choose the place and date of the medical examination. All necessary certificates in municipal and state medical institutions are issued free of charge.

Conclusionof the contract
After determining the candidate’s suitability for military service, the commander of the military unit signs a 1-year contract with him/her.

A prerequisite for the contract is direct participation in combat operations in the areas of military (combat) operations for a period of at least 6 months during the contract period. As a reminder, young volunteers are offered a choice of 6 brigades.

This type of contract provides for enlistment in the following military specialties and staff positions

• rifleman, senior rifleman, sniper, rifleman, medic;
• assistant grenade launcher, grenade launcher, senior grenade launcher;
• reconnaissance man, senior reconnaissance man.

After signing the contract and assuming duties in the position, the first part of the remuneration provided for this type of contract in the amount of UAH 200,000 is paid to the serviceman within 5 working days. The remuneration is paid by the military unit.

Training
After signing the contract, the recruit is sent for intensive training, which consists of

• basic general military training lasting 45 days;
• professional training – 14 days;
• adaptation course in a military unit – 14 days.

It is strictly forbidden to send this category of servicemen to the area of military (combat) operations without full completion of the enhanced training.

About the service
After completing the training and adaptation, the serviceman begins his service in the chosen unit. Then the serviceman is paid the second part of the remuneration in the amount of UAH 300,000.

During the service, the serviceman also receives a monthly salary according to his position and additional payments for direct participation in hostilities.

After the expiration of the one-year contract and the issuance of an order to be removed from the personnel lists, the serviceman receives the last part of the remuneration in the amount of UAH 500,000, provided that he fulfills all his obligations under the contract.

From that moment on, he or she is entitled to a preferential mortgage with a zero interest rate and the right to travel abroad freely.

In February, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine presented the details of the contract for volunteers aged 18-24.

The benefits for such contractors include financial remuneration and social guarantees, which, according to the ministry, are not offered by any civilian profession. Young volunteers are also guaranteed a one-time payment of 1 million hryvnias.

In early March, the first volunteers aged 18 to 24 took the oath.
