The Ministry of Defense held a meeting on cases of SPS – what was agreed upon

At the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, participants of an interagency meeting discussed mechanisms to prevent unauthorized abandonment of military units by members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
The event was chaired by Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General of Justice Serhiy Melnyk.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Military Law Enforcement Service, the State Bureau of Investigation, the Office of the Prosecutor General, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Social Policy, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, and the Pension Fund.
The discussion also included the heads of specialized structural units of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The participants of the meeting discussed the root causes and problems of unauthorized desertion of military units, assessed its impact on military discipline and combat readiness, and considered effective mechanisms to prevent such offenses.
Particular attention was paid to measures that can deter cases of unauthorized abandonment of units and ensure proper control.
According to Melnyk, unauthorized abandonment of a military unit is a serious offense that undermines military discipline and negatively affects the combat capability of units.
“Preventing such cases is critical for maintaining law and order among the personnel, effectively performing combat missions and strengthening the country’s defense capabilities,” he emphasized.
Following the meeting, it was decided to develop specific proposals from each agency for further joint work within the framework of an interagency commission under the coordination of the Ministry of Defense.
