The Ministry of Defense explained which medics will be sent to the front

The Ministry of Defense explained that the reservation will not be canceled for all medical workers, but only for certain specialists who have undergone military training and are needed to staff frontline medical units. This decision is due to an acute shortage of personnel after the introduction of total reservation. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs

We are talking about the following positions:

  • sanitary instructors (nurses and brothers)
  • paramedics;
  • military officers with training in the specialty of “medical care (family doctor)” and some other specialties, who are planned to be recruited for military service under a 1-year contract.

The reason is a systemic shortage of medical personnel in medical units. The decision to disarm will apply only to shortage specialties and only to those specialists who will be identified by the Ministry of Health together with regional health departments.

These employees will be able to sign fixed-term contracts and take up positions in military units that need to be reinforced. They will go to the front for one year and will be enrolled in medical positions under the contract.

Such a “medical contract” falls within the exceptions to the extension of the contract beyond the established terms. In other words, servicemen performing military service under such a contract are discharged from military service due to the expiration of their service term (unless they have expressed a desire to continue military service) upon the expiration of the contract.

It should be noted that information on possible revisions of reservations for medical personnel has been published on the website of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

As you know, since the beginning of the year, the Government has allowed 100% of healthcare workers in state and municipal healthcare facilities, public health institutions, blood centers and forensic medical and forensic psychiatric examination institutions to be booked, provided that this is their main place of work.

However, in order to meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the defense sector, the Ministry of Healthcare is working with the Ministry of Defense and the Command of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to develop a mechanism for disarming certain specialists. According to the Minister, an official request has already been received to identify such personnel.

“Currently, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine has received a request from the Ministry of Defense and the Command of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the ministry said.

The Ministry of Health specialists, in coordination with the health departments, are holding consultations to form the lists for disarmament.
