A “mole” who helped the occupiers was detained in the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian military intelligence agent in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces who helped Russian troops advance in Kursk region. He was adjusting fire on Ukrainian units.

This was reported by the SBU, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

According to the investigation, the man was recruited through pro-Russian Telegram channels. After that, he mobilized into the Ukrainian army and was later transferred to a combat brigade operating on the front line. His task was to collect intelligence on Ukrainian military positions and pass it on to the occupiers.

As law enforcement officers found out, the spy sent his handler photos of Ukrainian weapons, their location on maps, and text explanations. The Russians were particularly interested in electronic warfare systems and self-propelled artillery systems.

The soldier was detained while he was preparing an intelligence report for Russian military intelligence. A phone with an anonymous chat room was seized from him, through which he communicated with the Russians.

What is the punishment?
SBU investigators served the man a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The serviceman is currently in custody.

He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
