The State Bureau of Investigation has exposed 10 participants in the procurement of inadequate quality first aid kits for the military, causing damage to the state worth almost UAH 60 million. This was reported by the SBI, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
The State Bureau of Investigation, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, has served a notice of suspicion to the former head of a military training centre in Kyiv, as well as to nine other accomplices who purchased low-quality military first aid kits.
It was established that the training centre and entrepreneurs concluded eight contracts for the supply of 30,773 first aid kits for a total of UAH 58.5 million.
At the same time, military officials did not control the quality of the supplied first aid kits, the SBI noted.
Subsequently, the examination confirmed that the first aid kits did not meet the established standards, did not have the proper components, and the available drugs were of inadequate quality.
“Thus, the use of the contents of such first aid kits could have caused harm to the health of our servicemen,” the SBI said.
As a result of the supply of substandard products, the state suffered damage worth UAH 58.5 million.
The former head of the training centre was served a notice of suspicion of inaction by the military authorities (Article 426(4) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and the head of the medical training centre was served a notice of suspicion of negligence in relation to military service (Article 425(4) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the articles provides for a sentence of imprisonment for a term of 8 to 10 years.
Private entrepreneurs who supplied low-quality first aid kits were served a notice of suspicion of large-scale fraud.
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to 8 years.
