The spokesman for Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, has said that negotiations with Ukraine have “lost their relevance”. This was reported by the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
In a conversation with Russian propagandists, Peskov said that Moscow and Kyiv did not hold secret talks before the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region.
“You know that the topic of negotiations has lost its relevance. There are a lot of reports about various contacts in the media, and not all of them are actually true,” Peskov said when asked about possible talks between Ukraine and Russia, which were reported by the Western newspaper The Washington Post.
He also complained about the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region. According to him, such actions “cannot remain unanswered”.
According to the journalists, before the Ukrainian offensive in Kursk region, Kyiv and Moscow had been conducting covert negotiations on a partial ceasefire. According to the publication’s sources, the delegations of the parties were supposed to meet in Doha, and before that, the parties signalled their readiness to accept an agreement on a partial ceasefire, in particular on civilian infrastructure.
However, on 26 August, Russia again launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine. Most of the targets were energy facilities.
