DIU confirms information on planned exchange of prisoners

on 24 January, the planned exchange of prisoners between the Ukrainian and Russian sides was supposed to take place, but it has not yet happened. This was reported by a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Andriy Yusov, in a commentary to Radio Liber ty, reports
“I can state that the exchange planned for today is not taking place yet,”
– said the representative of the GUR.
He also added that the information that there were Ukrainian prisoners of war on board the downed Russian IL-76 is currently being checked.
The last flight of the IL-76
An IL-76 Russian military aircraft crashed in the Belgorod region of Russia. The video of the crash and explosion was posted this afternoon on the Russian segment of the network, and the information was promptly confirmed by the Russian authorities.
The Russian Ministry of Defence confirmed the information about the crash within half an hour of the video’s publication. It also stated that the downed plane was carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war who were being transported for an exchange. The Russians claim that the plane was shot down by an American Patriot or IRIS T system.
At the same time, some Ukrainian media outlets, citing their own sources, reported that the plane was not carrying Ukrainian prisoners of war, but missiles for S-300 systems.
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has not yet commented on the information.
