You can close a sole proprietorship in Diia again

31 December 16:35

The service for closing a sole proprietorship has been re-launched on the Diia portal, allowing entrepreneurs to terminate their business even when the Unified State Register is unavailable. This was reported by the press service of Diia, according to Komersant ukrainskyi.

Diia explained that the service can be used by individual entrepreneurs who have a taxpayer registration number or use passport data instead of a taxpayer card. The State Tax Service will deregister the entrepreneur as of the date of submission of the application after the resumption of their work, and the application will be processed by the state registrar after the Unified State Register resumes its work.

How to close a sole proprietorship through Diia:

– log in to the portal;

– select the service Closing a sole proprietorship;

– click Submit application;

– check the data;

– sign the application with a qualified electronic signature or Diia.Signature.

Diia assured that the tax office will deregister the sole proprietorship on the same day, and the sole proprietorship will be terminated as soon as the Unified State Register is launched. No queues at the tax office and no lengthy inspections.

As you know, a recent large-scale cyberattack on Ukraine’s state registries led to a temporary suspension of their operation. The restrictions also affected Diia. In particular, it was not possible to book employees, register and close sole proprietorships, etc. Today, Diia also announced the resumption of the employee booking service.

Sole proprietorships intend to close due to tax increase

The Opendatabot platform has conducted a large-scale survey of Ukrainian entrepreneurs to find out the plans of small and medium-sized businesses for the near future. This was reported by [Kommersant]. The survey involved 31,694 respondents who said they were working as individual entrepreneurs. According to analysts, 27% or 8,621 of the surveyed entrepreneurs plan to close their businesses in the near future. 2,297 or 7% planned to close this year. Another 20%, or 6,324 participants, said they planned to cease operations next year. The survey also showed that more than half of those planning to close – namely 62% – decided to close because of tax increases.

As it is known, taxes for individual entrepreneurs are to rise in January 2025. on December 25, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the relevant law, which, among other things, provides for an increase in the military tax for employees from 1.5% to 5% and the expansion of the circle of its payers to include individual entrepreneurs.

Also, as reported by [Kommersant], individual entrepreneurs belonging to the 1st taxation group and opened less than 6 months ago may be subject to particularly close scrutiny by banks. The Memorandum “On Ensuring Transparency of the Banking Payment Services Market” was recently signed by Oschadbank, PrivatBank, Raiffeisen Bank, Universal Bank, and two banking associations: The Independent Association of Banks of Ukraine and the Association of Ukrainian Banks, provides for the use of new criteria to identify risky individual entrepreneurs.
