Khmelnytskyi city council deputy found to have over $1.5m undeclared and real estate
9 October 14:21Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have found more than one and a half million undeclared dollars and real estate on the possession of a deputy of the Khmelnytsky local council. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the SBI.
The report does not specify the name of the person involved, but according to the UP, it is Svitlana Baranska, a deputy from the European Solidarity party.
The woman did not indicate any cash in her declaration.
At the same time, during searches of individual bank accounts opened in her name and at her place of work, law enforcement officers seized more than $1.5 million in various currencies.
The Bureau’s investigators are investigating criminal proceedings regarding fraud at the Khmelnytskyi customs office during the execution of contracts by a private company, of which the MP is now a director.
The suspect is currently detained on suspicion of illicit enrichment (Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The article provides for imprisonment for up to 10 years with confiscation of all property.
