A hydrogen production plant is planned to be built in Bucha, Kyiv region. This is reported by the Polish media outlet Pulz Biznesu, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

The project participants are the Ukrainian engineering company UTEM (Pivdenteploenergomontazh), Japanese Tsubame, and Polish Hynfra. It envisages the creation of an energy cluster for the production of green hydrogen and its processing into ammonia, which will provide jobs for three thousand people.

“The green industrial zone in Bucha will definitely be built. We would really like the project to be commissioned in 2029. But the military situation may postpone this date,” said Tomoho Umeda, president and founder of Hynfra.

As of today, the consortium is currently collecting documentation and developing a feasibility study. Then the consortium will apply for funds to implement the project. The Japanese government and international financial institutions are expected to provide the money.

According to Hynfra spokesman Jacek Perzynski, the green industrial zone will occupy 3,000 hectares.

The Green Industrial Zone project envisages energy production for local consumption. Hydrogen and ammonia will be produced from renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power and will be used as electricity, fuel and fertilizers, among other things.

“Hynfra is the hydrogen technology integrator and will be responsible for the concept and design, Tsubame will provide the technology to build an environmentally friendly ammonia energy storage facility, and the Ukrainian company UTEM will carry out the development and construction process on site,” Perzhynsky elaborated.
