As of November, the DPRK has provided Russia with more than 100 artillery systems, 100 short-range ballistic missiles, and more than 5 million large-caliber ammunition. This is stated in the response of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine to the request of the Interfax-Ukraine agency, reports Komersant ukrainskyi.

“On October 3 this year, the DPRK began supplying artillery systems to the Russian Federation. In total, more than 100 units of various types of equipment were moved, including: 170-mm self-propelled artillery systems M-1989, 240-mm multiple launch rocket systems M-1991. The DPRK also continues to supply large-caliber artillery ammunition and short-range ballistic missiles of the Kn-23/24 type to the Russian Federation (as of November this year, more than 5 million units and 100 units, respectively, have been delivered),”

– the GUR reported.

In addition, more than 60 units of 170-mm M-1989 Koksan self-propelled artillery systems were moved to the territory of the Russian Federation, some of which were planned to be delivered to the Saratov Military Aircraft Complex. However, they were allegedly transferred for the purpose of training personnel, and nothing is known about their condition, the DIU added.

Cooperation between the DPRK and Russia

on June 19, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin paid his first visit to North Korea in 24 years. During this visit, he signed an agreement on a “comprehensive strategic partnership” between the two countries with DPRK leader Kim Jong Un. After the signing, Putin noted that this agreement provides for assistance in case of aggression against one of the parties. In November, the agreement was ratified by both sides. The agreement explicitly provides for military assistance:

“If one of the parties is subjected to an armed attack by any state or several states and thus finds itself in a state of war, the other party will immediately provide military and other assistance by all means at its disposal in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter and in accordance with the laws of the Russian Federation and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.”

After the visit, even before the treaty was ratified, it became known that the DPRK was supplying artillery shells to Russia, which it used in the war against Ukraine. According to The Times, their number in the fall is half of all the shells that Russia fires against Ukraine.

In early November, there were reports of the presence of DPRK soldiers in the Kursk region. President Zelensky reported 11 thousand people. Presumably, this was the reason why the West authorized strikes with its weapons deep into Russia. Later, Zelensky said that the number of North Korean soldiers at the front could increase to 100 thousand.
