4 April 10:07
Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s representative in negotiations with the United States, after meeting with U.S. Special Representative Steve Vitkoff, said that significant progress has been made in relations between the parties. This was reported by the Russian media, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
According to Dmitriev, the progress is so great that over the past two days, Russia and the United States have made “three steps forward.”
Dmitriev held talks with U.S. officials in Washington, D.C., during which he noted that while there are still some disagreements between the two countries, both sides are working to resolve them.
He claims that the Trump administration is listening closely to Russia’s position and concerns, and that restoring full cooperation is the most important area of their joint work.
According to Dmitriev, there has been significant progress in the ceasefire agreements in Ukraine, although several more meetings are needed to resolve all differences.
Dmitriev also said that the parties discussed investments and readiness to revive joint business. In particular, the Kremlin envoy saw a great willingness of American businessmen to return to Russia. However, even here, the Russian stated that only those businesses that would be useful to them and that would be allowed by the Russian authorities would be allowed to enter Russia.
Another topic of discussion is the resumption of air travel between the US and Russia. This is something both sides really want.
They also discussed cooperation in the Arctic and the rare earth metals industry.
The meeting took place against the backdrop of U.S. pressure on Ukraine and Russia to cease fire. Media reports say that Dmitriev is now almost Putin’s right-hand man, who also has close ties to key members of the Trump team. The visit came shortly after the US president expressed frustration with the pace of peace talks.
