Ukraine is experiencing a steady upward trend in the popularity of environmentally friendly modes of transportation. At the same time, the share of cars with traditional engines is declining. This is reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the Ukravtoprom association.

Last month, cars with traditional engines accounted for more than 62% of the new passenger car market. Last year, this figure was almost 66%.

Gasoline engines retain their leadership with a share of 36.1% of sales, although they show a noticeable drop compared to last year’s 45.5%.

Instead, diesel cars strengthened their position, increasing their market presence from 20.4% to 26.3%.

There is a steady upward trend in the popularity of environmentally friendly modes of transportation. The share of hybrid cars increased to 20.7%, and electric cars to 16.6%.

CNG vehicles account for less than 1% of the market.

Among the models that are leaders in their categories:

  • RENAULT Duster dominates in two segments at once – gasoline and diesel cars,
  • TOYOTA RAV-4 is the leader among hybrids,
  • HONDA M-NV is the most popular electric car,
  • HYUNDAI Tucson leads the segment of cars with LPG.

It should be noted that the statistics shows the growing popularity of electric vehicles in Ukraine and indicates the regions where these cars are in the greatest demand. The demand for electric vehicles grew by 68% over the year.

Meanwhile, the West is fighting the Chinese electric car industry: The EU is ready to take tough measures against Chinese electric cars, and the US will quadruple tariffs on them.
