US President Donald Trump said that negotiations on a ceasefire in Ukraine are ongoing and threatened sanctions for violating it. He wrote about this on Truth Social shortly after a telephone conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
“The US is calling for, ideally, a 30-day unconditional ceasefire. Let’s hope that an acceptable ceasefire will be respected, and both countries will be held accountable for upholding the sanctity of these direct talks. If the ceasefire is not respected, the United States and its partners will impose additional sanctions,” Trump wrote.
He also reiterated that “thousands of young soldiers are dying every week, and everyone should want it to stop.”
Trump added that he will remain committed to securing peace between Russia and Ukraine, along with the Europeans, “and it will be a lasting peace!”
“This ceasefire should ultimately lead to a peace agreement. All this can be done very quickly and I will be available at any time if my services are needed. Thank you for your attention to this issue!” Trump summarized.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about his phone conversation with the 45th President of the United States Donald Trump, during which the two leaders discussed a number of important issues, including the need for a ceasefire in Ukraine, the ratification of the economic agreement and the joint commemoration of Victory Day over Nazism.
