Trump is angry with Musk. What is known

US President Donald Trump is angry with Elon Musk, who was supposed to attend a secret Pentagon briefing to discuss Washington’s plans for war with China.
Axios writes about this, citing its own sources, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
After Trump learned that Musk was to attend the briefing, he canceled it, saying, “What the hell is Elon doing there? Make sure he doesn’t leave.”
Also, as part of the investigation into the leak of information about the planned briefing, Pentagon Chief Pete Hagel fired two senior officials, Dan Caldwell and Darin Selnick.
According to Axios, Elon Musk irritates some administration officials with his constant presence in the White House, haphazard social media posts, and slash-and-burn tactics in his Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE).
As one of the American officials told the publication, Trump “still loves Elon, but there are some red lines.”
What preceded it?
On March 21, the media reported that Musk was supposed to attend a Defense Department briefing to discuss classified information in case of a US war with China. However, Trump denied this information, saying that the Pentagon briefing did not even plan to mention China.
Such information is one of the most classified operational plans of the Pentagon. Musk’s admission would have exacerbated the conflict of interest issue, as in addition to working for the US government, he continues to head SpaceX and Tesla, the latter of which is an important supplier of components.
In addition to the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal also wrote about this from its own sources. However, Trump specifically mentioned the NYT in his posts, calling the publication a “failure” and its journalist Maggie Gaberman a “stupid fraud.”
“[She] has been writing about me for the Times all along, using anonymous, fictitious (non-existent!) sources, and with whom I have not spoken in years. She was running a hoax: “Russia, Russia, Russia,” only to realize that she had been fooled. She owes me an absolutely discredited Pulitzer Prize for her bad reporting,” Trump wrote.
