During a meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in the Oval Office, US President Donald Trump accused him of “white genocide”. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Reuters.

“People are fleeing South Africa for their own safety. Their land is being confiscated, and in many cases, they are being killed,” Trump said in Ramaphosa’s presence.

To confirm his words, Trump asked to turn on a video on a TV set that had been installed in the Oval Office specifically for this purpose.

The video showed white crosses, which Trump claimed were the graves of white people. The American president also showed stacks of printed news articles, which, according to Trump, confirmed his accusations.

He also demanded a “response” and called for the arrest of a South African opposition leader.

The journalists noted that the South African president hoped to use the meeting with Trump to reset relations with the United States and was prepared for an aggressive reception by including popular white South African golfers in his delegation.

“During the presentation, Ramaphosa mostly sat with an impassive expression, only occasionally craning his neck to get a better view of the screen,” the article says.

Ramaphosa emphasized that he had not seen these materials before and would like to know where the video Trump showed was shot.

At the same time, the authors of the material explained that the video was filmed in September 2020 during a protest in South Africa after two people were killed on a farm.

“The crosses did not mark real graves. The organizer of the protest told South Africa’s public broadcaster at the time that they represented farmers who had been killed over the years,” the journalists said in the article.
